If a warrior is to succeed in anything, the success must come gently,
with a great deal of effort but with no stress or obsession.

Carlos Castaneda, The Wheel of Time

After 18 great years with Chris, I am happy to announce his arrival on July 2017. During the years, a pleasant group of people growing and developing together enables newcomers to join the "Chris family ".

If you concerns and touched by interest to explore together the meaning of the movement, touch and awareness – healing and contributing serenity to our world you are welcome to join us.

Here is Chris description for this year workshop:

At their most basic level human beings are flock animals. Not belonging is the worst that can happen to a person and was traditionally a punishment inflicted on the worst kind of criminals (or heretics). We are also creatures of habit and many of us are slaves to our daily routines (are you reading this on a cell phone?)

The plus side of all this is that when we understand the need for stability, security and structure, we can put the foundation stones of our life in place and start building.

When it comes to movement, most of us are just as reliant on structure to get along. Indeed it is through the forms and patterns of exercises and movements that we learn at all. However, the goal of structure is not to imprison but to release; when we know the structure, then we are free.

When the form has become part of our being then we can begin to look inside the form and find out what lies there. What lies there is space for spontaneity to arise. This workshop will be devoted to an exploration of these twin themes: structure and spontaneity – apparently a contradiction but in fact an exciting paradox. Without structure, no spontaneity.
But structure without spontaneity is dead and empty.

During this workshop we will explore Chen family taiji chuan and some of the forms I have shaped over the past three decades though the polarity of structure and spontaneity.
As usual, our morning sessions will focus on the sequence of the Chen family taiji chuan style with supporting exercises to prepare the body and explore the dynamics of energy in fluid, physical motion. Here we will be primarily be using traditional sets of movement looking closely at rhythm, flow and syntax.
The afternoon sessions will be devoted to lying, seated and standing exercises designed to bring the individual into direct contact with the full range of manifestation embodied in the human energy system. Inspiration, spontaneity and innovation will be the key themes here.
To round off each day we will explore the crane kata from Five Animals Frolic.
During the evenings we will re-visit some of our old favourites in the form of Kidney Qi Returns to Source, 8 trigrams qigong and Shen Gong.
